- 1 1/2 c flour
- 1 1/2 c sugar
- 14 T baking cocoa
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/3 c shortening
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 T corn syrup
- 1 c chopped walnuts (optional)
Sift together first 5 ingredients (I often times don't do this but it does say you should). Beat shortening, eggs, vanilla, and corn syrup and add to dry incredients. Beat well. Add nuts if desired. Bake at 350 for 30- 35 minutes in prepared 9 x 13 pan.
Time to Prepare: 15 mins to prepare, 30 to cook
